The C-Word

Hi. I'm Kyrst Hogan (aka Burgundy Brixx). In May of 2021, I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Instead of throwing in the towel, I decided to wave it in the air for the world to see!

The C-Word is a cheeky cabaret journey through my battle, from crazy stories about my recovery from two major surgeries in one year to musical parodies about the trials and tribulations of my six months of chemo and the day-to-day fight for survival to the literal baring of my soul and body. It’s a wild ride that hopes to de-mystify the experience of this disease and let us laugh at our imperfections and celebrate our resilience! While it is about my journey with cancer, I promise it’s got some great belly-laughs and a lot of variety, entertainment value and loads of positivity. It was voted "Pick Of The Fringe" at the 2022 Vancouver Fringe Fest and also won "The Leaping Fringer Award".

A few days after my show closed, I was told that my cancer is becoming active again, and I need your help.

I am presenting this performance as a fundraiser to help me finance the next phase of my treatments. Many treatment costs are out of pocket and I do not receive disability assistance, so I'm working hard to maintain my freelance work while I am feeling strong. But as I may not always have the strength I have right now, especially if I have to undergo toxic treatments again, your support would mean so much to me.

I'm launching this effort on November 1, 2022 - my 54th birthday. My birthday wish this year is to beat this thing and have the opportunity to grow old. Silver, magnificent, wise and resilient.

Please, help make my wish come true.

And enjoy the show.
